The Ultimate Guide to International Moving during a Pandemic Pt.2

Ultimate Moving Guide Part 2

This week, we’ll be giving you some things to consider to help you decide where to move.

Choosing where to move will be the biggest decision that you and your family will have to make prior to relocating. Undoubtedly, Australia is still a popular destination for Kiwis, in 2020 approximately 565,000 Kiwis landed on Australian shores5. The US, Germany, Canada, The UK and France are also top destinations for individuals who are keen in starting a new life in aboard6. However, we suggest doing your homework and finding the right place for you and your family, and below a couple of factors you should consider.

Migration and Entry Requirement

The pandemic has prompted many countries to change their entry requirements. In addition, some nations have kept their borders closed post-2020 to prevent and maintain their COVID cases. We suggest conducting a thorough research of each country you’re interested in – check their migration pages, read about their entry requirements and consider getting in touch with a migration agent to learn more.

Climate

There’s nothing worse than being unprepared for the climate when you’re travelling, now imagine starting your new life at the country of your choice feeling the same, so before you choose your new home, make sure you decide which climate you enjoy. Are you a beach person? Do you like cold temperatures? Are you okay dealing with seasonal monsoons? To help you decide and to learn more about the climate of your chosen country, we recommend reading and joining online forums and communities, you’re sure to find that there are plenty of locals who are willing to share their expat experience.

Jobs, jobs, jobs

Another factor you need to consider is your target nation’s job market − are there openings for the role or industry you’re planning to enter? If you’re unsure, we suggest contacting a recruiter in your field in order to gain insights into the type of jobs opening available in the market.

Next week, we’ll be sharing some tips to help you make the most out of your home.
