The Volume of All Your Belongings
How many of your belongings you want to relocate to Australia will be a major factor in determining the total cost of your move.
For example, do you want to ship an entire household of furniture or are you planning to only take your personal items? Obviously, relocating a household of furniture is going to cost more than just shipping a few boxes that contain personal items.
The cost is determined by the amount of space that your belongings will occupy in a shipping container. As a base, a 20-foot shipping container has an internal volume capacity of 28 cubic metres. If you were to fill the entire container and have this shipped to Australia, it could cost you around $12,000 to $14,000.
But, if your goods will only take up half the volume of the container or less, you could take advantage of a shared container where you’ll share the cost of shipping the container with another customer.
Your Final Destination in Australia
There are shipping ports right around the coast of Australia, so if you’re relocating somewhere near one of these ports, it will cost you less than if you wanted to move to a more inland location.
Moving away from the coast or somewhere that’s not close to a shipping port is going to add to your final quote because we’ll have to include the cost of road transport.
The Type of Belongings You Have
If you have fragile or expensive items, these will have to be expertly packed by our team to ensure that they arrive safe and sound at your destination. You might also want to add extra insurance for these items just in case something unfortunate happens.
Do You Want to Relocate Your Vehicles?
If you want to ship your vehicles to your new home in Australia, we can happily do this for you.
But remember that this will add to your relocation costs, so you need to consider whether this is necessary or whether you might want to put them into storage here in New Zealand if you’re only planning a temporary move.
