Heart Kids New Zealand received one of six Grace Gives New Zealand grants in 2017 to purchase petrol and food vouchers for families staying in hospital.
Heart kids can stay in hospital for some time, usually between 3–6 weeks. This places enormous pressure on the family, not only emotionally, but also financially.
“What an amazing service this group provides.” Those were the words of Grace Removals Auckland Branch Manager, John Scott, who spent time at Heart Kids NZ Auckland HQ where he presented Michelle Webb – Atkinson with the charity’s Grace Gives cheque.
John was able to see first-hand the work Heart Kids NZ does in helping families whose worlds have been turned upside down by Congenital Heart Defects in children.
The Grace Gives grant helps to provide fuel and food vouchers to those families. In fact, they’ve already helped make a difference to one family who travelled the 300km from New Plymouth to Auckland to be by their son’s side.
