North Beach Surf Lifesaving Club in Christchurch received one of six Grace Gives New Zealand grants in 2017. With this grant, the club was able to purchase new working CPR training manikins to help teach juniors and lifeguards CPR.
North Beach SLC has provided voluntary patrols at North Beach, Christchurch, over the summer months since 1916. The club has a large membership of juniors (under 14 years) who they consider the lifeguards of the future. These working CPR training manikins help to teach juniors and lifeguards how to successfully perform CPR in a life threatening situation.
Tony Thomas, Branch Manager for Removals in Christchurch, took some time out of the office to meet with North Beach Surf Life Saving Club’s Captain, Dean Le Warne, and Club Administrator, Emma Derrick, at their Club headquarters.
While there, Tony presented the club with their Grace Gives grant and was able to see first hand the CPR manikins that the club purchased with the donation.
Grace is thrilled to have been able to assist with the development of lifesavers CPR training. We’re looking forward to experiencing a safe and happy 2018/19 summer season at North Beach!
